  Thermal Physics by Kittel and Kroemer
  2nd edition from W.H. Freeman and Company

  Also recommended is Fundamentals of Statistical and Thermal Physics by F. Reif from McGraw-Hill.

• Homework:
  Reading and homework assignments will be given every week. Additional problems may occasionally be assigned on Wednesday or Friday. All assigned problems and due dates will be posted on the homework Web page.

  Late homework will not be accepted. Please promptly bring any questions about grading to my attention; no adjustments to homework grades will be made after one week has elapsed. Homework that is not picked up by you will be held for one week and then discarded.

• Examinations and Grading:
  There will be two midterm exams, one in class and one take home. There will also be an in-class final examination. More information on this will appear later.
