The atomic structure of Al78Mn17Ru5 icosahedral phase was studied using pulsed neutron and anomalous X-ray scattering. The pair distribution functions for neutron and X-ray scattering were obtained. Additionally, the ruthenium differential distribution function was obtained. The pair distribution functions indicate the presence of a quasi-crystalline substructure occupied partially by all elements; however, ruthenium atoms are only found in vertex positions.
