Subject: Stream Improvement - Lorimer Park
"... Saturday August 18 th was our second work day on our Adopt - A -
Stream project. Thirteen chapter members worked from 8:00 AM till Noon to
complete the second deflector. Four support logs and a sill log were placed
in the deflector and pinned into place. Stone was then added to stabilize
the deflector.
We have two more deflectors to be added in this section of the
stream. A single log structure upstream and another log and stone deflector
downstream. Hopefully we can install the single log device and start the
base for the stone / log deflector next month. I expect we will complete
this section in October. The remaining four deflectors will be upstream,
and should be completed next year.
At some point we'll have to think about expanding our work area
on the Pennypack. I'm not sure how the limited access will affect our
ability to move upstream. I've learned that having the materials close to
the work area is critical. At some point I'll take a look downstream to see
what that section looks like."
Below is a collection of photos showing our second shecduled workday on our stream improvement project on the Pennypack Creek in Lorimer Park in Montgomery County.
