Joe Veasey, Bill McNamara, Tom Franks and Ray Young participated in planting willow and dogwood stakes in Lorimer Park along Pennypack Creek on two occassions, on May 8th and 15th, 2002. This work was much appreciated by Scott Morgan, the Superintendent of Lorimer Park, who made a request to our Chapter for help, since the timing was such that the freshly cut twigs and stakes had to be planted as soon as possible once they were delivered to the park.
Scott Morgan wrote a thank you note, a letter of appreciation, dated May 15, 2002 thanking "TU for planting hundreds of willow and dogwood stakes along the Pennypack Creek in Lorimer Park. These efforts will benefit the stream, park, fish and animals for years to come."
This volunteer work was reported in Montgomery County's local paper, "The Globe", on May 15 with a small writeup and with three photos. The Globe photos were taken by Bill Fraser. The images are displayed below.
